Oldham is a county in Greater Manchester, England with a population of 230,800 in 2015. People from Oldham are called Oldhamers though "Roughyed" is a nickname from the 18th century. The 19th-century redbrick terraced houses characterise Oldham's built environment. The town centre contains the highest concentration of retailing, cultural facilities and employment in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham.
